I have purchased a lot, "a whole lot" of different tools from Artisans Leather Supply.
This is a boutique offering persicion tools and supplies at (what I have found to be) an extremely competitive price point, while still providing conserige level shopping services.
Clients (that is how you are treated) who appreciate handling beautifully crafted, durable tools, and who can decern the difference of both the performance and results that quality leathercraft tools can provide, will truly enjoy acquiring many of the "quintessential" items ALS offers.
In my opinion, when considering the acquisition of leathercraft tools, the following things are important to consider:
When using smaller sized hand tools, (the norm in leathercrafting), I find that tools made with materials consisting of a little extra weight (which quality tools usually offer), will provide the stability necessary for persicion results.
Beautifully finished quality wood tools and tool handles are strong, a delight to handle & add a little extra weight (which can also help to balance the tool).
The ergonomic designs that go into the development of high quality persicion tools, help to reduce or eliminate fatigue, discomfort and the risk of injury.
The higher quality metals used in most quality hand tools, are more corrosion resistant, keep a sharp edge longer and they usually have a beautifully polished finish.
The highest quality cutting, trimming, skiving tool, or punch will not perform well if the blade has been allowed to become dull. It’s prudent to invest in (and learn to properly use) your sharpening & polishing tools/supplies as well as to maintain tools and store them properly.
Avoid the frustration and possable danger of using a poor quality tool that will not perform for its intended purpose or breaks under use.
And finally, treat yourself well, you deserve it!
Acquire quality tools (one or two at a time if necessary), you will ENJOY doing your craft much more & with better results. It should be fun, not frustrating .
I can be verified as a purchaser of dozens of tools from Artisans Leather Supply.
I am not associated with Artisans Leather Supply and I have not been compensated for this review. I have found that the tools that I have purchased from ALS have all fit my above referenced criteria, so, I took the time to write this rather lengthy review (I don't normally "do" reviews or surveys).
I just wanted to share my experiences in hope that it will be of assistance to crafters and to support a company that I believe to be a true asset to the leathercraft community.
This review was purposely written non specific to any individual item and I encourage Artisans Leather Supply to post this on all of the items that I have purchased as I've been quite pleased with all of them.
If you made it this far, thank you for your time, I hope you found it well spent.
